Varnish
Learn just what Varnish is. Know a lot more about web accelerators and their role.
Varnish is a content caching platform, which is sometimes referred to as an HTTP reverse proxy. It’s a web app accelerator that can increase the speed of a site by up to 1000 percent, depending on the content itself. Every time a visitor accesses any page on a website that uses Varnish, the platform caches the page and delivers it instead of the web server when the visitor loads it again. In this way, the browser request from the visitor is not processed by the server and the web page will open significantly faster, as the Varnish caching platform can serve content many times faster than any server software. The result is a significantly faster loading website, which means an immensely improved browsing experience. In case any of the cached web pages is updated on the live website, the content that Varnish saves in its system memory is updated as well, so the users will not see outdated data.

Varnish in Cloud Website Hosting
Varnish comes as an optional upgrade with all our
cloud website hosting plans. You can add it to your website hosting account from the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is available with all shared plans and you will get a truly easy-to-work-with GUI, which will grant you complete control over the content caching system. Using 1-click quick-access buttons, you can reboot or terminate any of the instances, i.e. Varnish will no longer work for a given Internet site. You can also see a detailed system log file or clear the cache for any of the Internet sites. When you add Varnish to your shared web hosting package, you will be able to select the maximum amount of system memory that will be at your disposal for content caching purposes and the number of the sites that will use Varnish. You can always order more memory in increments of 32 megabytes and, for optimal performance, you can allocate a dedicated IP to the websites that will use Varnish. This will allow you to get the most out of your sites and to have lots of satisfied site users.

Varnish in Semi-dedicated Servers
Varnish is included in the basic service set that you’ll obtain if you choose to host your sites in a
semi-dedicated server account. You can enable it for any of your Internet sites via our avant-garde Hepsia Control Panel. The default amount of memory that the Varnish platform can use to cache data is 64 MB, but in case you decide that you want more, you can upgrade this amount from the Control Panel’s Upgrades section. You can also upgrade the Varnish instances, i.e. the number of the sites that can use this platform simultaneously. As these two features are not tied to each other, you can use several Internet sites with the default amount of memory or you can add more memory in increments of 32 megabytes and use all of it for one single site. The Varnish platform works best when you set a dedicated IP address for the Internet sites that utilize its power. Hepsia will provide you with an easy means of restarting any instance. In addition, you’ll be able to clear the cached content with only one single click.

Varnish in VPS Servers
The Varnish caching platform is included by default with each of the
VPS servers offered by us as long as the VPS server is ordered with the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, so you can enhance the work of your websites with only a couple of mouse clicks. The more powerful the plan, the more memory Varnish will have at its disposal, but even with a lower-end plan, the platform will be able to utilize several hundred MB, so even if you have a number of websites, you’ll notice an enormous reduction in the overall server load and a considerably better webpage loading speed. The Varnish platform will need to work for a while while the visitors browse the pages and once the site content has been cached, you will perceive the effects. One of the pros of employing Varnish is that a less powerful and less high-priced Virtual Private Server package will do the same job as a more high-priced one without the caching platform, so not only will your websites perform much better, but you will also spare some cash.

Varnish in Dedicated Servers
In case you order a
dedicated server with the Hepsia Control Panel, you’ll acquire Varnish at no additional cost and you will exert total control over it through an extremely intuitive interface – you’ll be able to start, to stop or to reboot an instance, to view an exhaustive log, to clear the cached content associated with any site and much, much more. The Varnish caching platform will have several GB of memory at its disposal, so even if you manage traffic-intensive websites with lots of visitors, you’ll notice the much faster web page load speeds and the less load on your dedicated machine. This will happen shortly after you start using the Varnish platform, as it will require some time to cache the content that people browse. You can get the most out of the platform’s potential in case the sites that are using it also use a dedicated IP, but owing to the fact that your server comes with several IPs by default, you won’t need to pay anything on top of the monthly charge for the server itself.
