Having root-level access to a server means that you will be able to view and update any file on it, which includes important system files. You may also install software that can modify specific settings on the server during the process, so that the installation is possible only if you are logged in as the root user. The latter has full privileges, i.e. you will have full control over your machine at any time and you'll be able to do anything you'd like. You may also create other users either with the same rights or with fewer rights, based on what you want them for - everyday tasks, other server admins, etcetera. To be on the safe side, it is usually recommended to employ the root account only when you really need it and not for tasks which can be done via other accounts. You may use a web-based graphical interface or a Secure Shell console to be able to connect with the server and to manage it at the root level.

If your hosting server features the cPanel or the DirectAdmin hosting Control Panel, you'll have full root access and will be able to control your web content via a graphical interface, while you may still install server-side applications that may be needed for your Internet sites and even by offline applications, including VoIP software, media encoding software, various frameworks, etcetera. Without any Control Panel, you'll also have full root-level access, but you will have to do everything through a console. If you choose to use our custom-built Hepsia hosting Control Panel, there will be certain root access limitations, but this configuration is the most convenient to control. In this way, you'll be able to pick the virtual server plan that you really need.
Full Root-level Access in Dedicated Servers
Each dedicated server that we supply includes full root-level access, when the server is ordered with no Control Panel, or with cPanel or DirectAdmin. If you would like to set up and run heavy, resource-demanding applications and they have specific requirements regarding the server software setting which can't be fulfilled by a conventional shared hosting plan, our servers are the best solution. With no Control Panel at hand, you will be able to access the server and update its settings as well as the content that you upload using a console, whereas with cPanel and DirectAdmin, you'll have a graphical interface to manage everything related to your online content, and most server-side settings. As expected, if you get a dedicated server without a Control Panel, you may always set up some third-party instrument manually, as long as it is compatible with the Operating System that you have selected at registration.
